Duvenbeck is supplier of the year for CLAAS

CLAAS: Duvenbeck is supplier of the year.

The international agricultural machinery group CLAAS has recognised the Duvenbeck Group as “Supplier of the Year” in the logistics category. Pia and Thomas Duvenbeck accepted the “Supplier of the Year Award 2014” in January in front of 700 guests at the 11th annual CLAAS Suppliers’ Day.

According to CLAAS, the decision was based on Duvenbeck’s “high level of motivation, excellent and fair collaboration as well as Duvenbeck’s transparent processes and prices”. CLAAS expressed its appreciation for Duvenbeck as a strategic partner who is actively involved in identifying and proposing opportunities for improvement and who, in addition, further develops inbound processes together with the CLAAS works. In this area, CLAAS considers Duvenbeck to be “one of the most innovative service providers in the market”. Like CLAAS, Duvenbeck is a family business with flat hierarchies leading, in consequence, to a culture of positive decision making. Thanks to its excellent experience with Duvenbeck, CLAAS is proposing to further expand the two companies’ collaboration in future. CLAAS sees even more potential with regard to volume and in the area of contract logistics.

Since 2013, Duvenbeck has been providing extensive logistics services for eight CLAAS branches throughout Europe. These services primarily revolve around procurement logistics for production sites of different CLAAS business areas in Germany, France and Hungary. In Germany alone, Duvenbeck employs 80 trucks per day for the pre-collection and direct delivery of goods to the Harsewinkel, Paderborn, Hamm, Gütersloh and Bad Saulgau sites. This is complemented by goods movements to and from the Le Mans and Woippy direction in France as well as Törökszentmiklós in Hungary.

Every day, Duvenbeck moves over 1,000 tonnes of production material in Germany. Apart from full and part loads, this also includes unit loads. For the production sites in Germany and Woippy, Duvenbeck guarantees a 24-hour delivery after pick-up. For Le Mans and Törökszentmiklós, 48 hours have been agreed upon. Providing suppliers with loading units and empties pooling options as well as managing a trailer yard in the Harsewinkel plant are also part of the package. The logistics concept also includes trailer changing in the Harsewinkel and Hamm plants, where empties are swapped against fulls.

Consolidation is carried out at the Duvenbeck branches in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Schwaig, Peine, Duisburg and Bochum. At the Rheda-Wiedenbrück site, 200 tonnes of material are handled every day. From there on, 20 Duvenbeck employees look after the complete management of the CLAAS works including service, clearance, scheduling as well as loading tackle and warehouse administration. The branch is manned in two daily shifts between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.

The CLAAS KGaA mbH is an international agricultural machinery group based in Harsewinkel, Eastern Westphalia. The family business was founded in 1913 and is a market and technology leader in the agricultural engineering sector. CLAAS focuses mainly on harvesters and tractors. The company is the global market leader in the field chopper sector, and the European market leader in the harvester-thresher sector. Beyond that, CLAAS develops and manufactures mower units, swathers, tedders, baling presses and tractors with a performance range of 72 to 542 PS. Besides its core business of agricultural technology, the company is also active in the area of industrial technology.
